Where can we find information on the specific sites?

All information related to the site, Kallari Association, and criteria and guidelines is available online at www.openarchitecturenetwork.org/challenge/south_america. Those who have registered and paid the submission fee have access to additional information about the site, client and the specific needs of the challenge partner in the "Competition Details" menu.

Are there any existing buildings which should be part of my design?

No, designs should be from the ground up.

Am I required to get LEED Gold certification?

LEED Gold certification is not a requirement of designs for the Kallari site. It is the client's preference that the standards of "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" set by the US Green Building Council be considered, but we don't expect everyone to go out and get their designs certified. If you would like to learn more about LEED and the USGBC, visit www.usgbc.org.

How do I learn more about Kallari Association's chocolate production and fair trade advocacy?

The Kallari Association's own website is a great place to learn more about your community partner.

Does my presentation board need to be translated?

All boards must be submitted in English first. Translations are not a requirement as the jury will be English speaking. That said, making translations available in Spanish and Kichwa would benefit your community partners at a later stage in the Challenge.

Do you have updated site info?, I know where it is loctaed but have no idea of the site boundaries, limits or its topography, at this point my project is on standby until I get this information.

The final site has not been chosen. Please use the dimensions/occupancies from the design brief and keep in mind that we are looking for a design concept. The winning design will be further refined upon a site visit by the winner and with the input of the client.

We are at a critical point in our process and need to get more information on the site. A site boundary, topographic information (aerial interpolation is fine), rivers, roads, major elevations, etc.

The current information shows the site on Google earth located mid ridgeline while the site photos show the site down by the river and road in the valley.

While we wait for site information, can you let us know a general location based on google earth information, roads, river.

Kallari has not yet purchased land thus there is no definite site. The images given under "Competition Details" are of a potential site and of the region in general. Please use the dimensions/occupancies from the design brief and keep in mind we are looking for a design concept that can later be refined based on a site visit and collaboration with the client.

Longitude and Latitude coordinates are provided in the challenge brief. Is this to be taken as the selected site for the Kallari Assoc. facilities?

We can wait for information about the site to be released once the OAN/AH team has returned from their site visit but would like something a bit more definitive to work from in the meantime.

I add a comment on the urgency of the information about the site... we need to have information about the countours as well... We need all this as soon as possible... even if it is not ver acurate for now... any information would be useful to start our projects... Thanks

More information about the site will become available in the coming weeks. Architecture for Humanity and AMD will be visiting our community partners and documenting the planned building sites. Hi, You really need to provide dates for this information (sites, countours, etc) as we need them to work and we need to organize our time. Please let us know when things will be available. You´ll lose interest otherwise.
Also in some pages OAN it says that the entry is to be sent by mid January and somewhere else it says by mid February. Can you let us know which one is correct? Huge difference for everybody as we all have commitments and we need to plan our work...

I'll help make this list longer... I'm getting equally frustrated myself, I didn't ask this question earlier because it had already been asked and I was waiting for the reply. It is pretty sad that they wont even answer with a "theres not going to be a site plan" so we are not left waiting. The pictures show some pretty steep hills so i would assume a steep terrain. Maybe someone could draw a topography map off the elevations on Google earth. If a site plan doesn't come up in the next few days it will be my method of drafting the site.
