Sun/ air / water are the main elements to support lives growing and maintaining. In this telemedicine center (Nyaya Health, Nepal), we consider these three elements to specially reflect the characteristics of nursing lives from both nature and medical perspectives. We defined 4 zones in this project to satisfy the clients’ specific demands. The sufficient sun light and fresh air can be provided to each corner; meanwhile to create a confidential and secured environment. Design Concept Red Cross which represents the international humanism is adopted as our design concept. Transfer this sign to real materials and functional space. We separated the basic areas with the stone made crossing walls which also contain pipes for delivering heat, water, and electricity to each end of this building. The main structure is simple but significant for its unique exterior. We also preserve the possibilities for the future expanding to ensure the whole structure and shape can be maintained. Higher ground level is designed to avoid the humid in mountains at night effecting the habitants and damaging the equipments. This design can also make air floating easily and get rid of the flood after the heavy rain during summer. On the other word, this medicine center can fulfill its functions without affecting the nature cycle. Regarding to the roof, we also suggest two different options: slopping and flat. The inclined one is more activated and the flat one tends to be more stable on the image wise. However, both styles are capable of setting the solar power boards and water collection. Site Plan This site locates on the 2 acres land and next to a road on its west side which is a south-north ramp. The available area is about 175 sqm. We define 60% of area for medical components and the other 40% for community components purposes. To compact with the origin land conditions, the main entrance will be opened on the west to face to the road and also plan a public area near to the road. Further, this area will be circulated to the clinics on the west-south end and the community library /computer lab on the east-north end. The offices and resting spaces will be located on the east-south end. The route design of this medicine center will lead the habitants from the public to the private areas gently after stepping in the entrance. We expect to create a user friendly environment and provide the patients a comfortable and calm experience. Construction Materials Regarding to the budget and sustainability, this project will use the domestic produced woods and stone in Nepal. The main walls will be constructed with stones, concrete, and steels enclosed the pipes for heat, water, and electricity by the specific skills for reinforced loadbearing wall. Woods will be used to make the other structures such as roof, pillars, and beams. The traditional constructing skills and carpenters will be inducted into this work. In this project, we chose different materials to claim the images of reliable and friendly. We can sense the stable and heavy from the stone wall; warm and plain from the woods. We wish people to experience the temperature and history through living in this building and therefore to obtain a balance between seasonal nature and artificial nursing space. Sustained Development The whole building is made with local produced materials to reduce the costs and gas while importing the materials. The solar power boards will be set over the plain roof for gaining the electricity and heat. Besides, the sloping roof can also collect the rain for recycling and providing the self usage. A reasonable architecture design can provide a comfortable environment for the habitants living cozily.
