2002 : Kallari

AMD Open Architecture Challenge

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project intends to creat a sustainable chocolate factory, integrated in the surrounding environment and built with materials that can easily be found in the area.
The main concept is transparency. The visitors will be able to check through the glass how chocolate is made. The factory is organized in a way that visitors can take the walk, visiting all the facilities (library, auditorium, coffee shop, point of purchase and gallery) and, at the same time, understand how the factory actually works to produce chocolate. If they have all the facilities on their right side, for example, they will have all the factory room on their left. This means they can have the tour and watch everything about the process of manufacturing chocolate. The factory's design is based on old inca's temples and is almost totally made of wood and glass with air vents on top so that air circulation is available avoiding, this way, hight temperatures inside the visitor's centre and the factory itself.
