PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A CENTRE FOR INTEGRATED SEPERATION
Design Concept:
How does a centre that has a civic quality, containing recreation, educational, health as well as a youth centre for the local community, can exist while maintaining their own identity and be separated from each other, yet united in a single location?
The proposal uses the 20x40 meter football field as a catalyst, generating a green hill for viewing, and a covered timber grandstand backed by a solid brick wall. The wall serves as a buffer between the noisy recreational zone to the educational and health facilities. A covered amphitheater, organically designed to encourage social interaction and public gathering, also buffers the class rooms from the health clinic.
The clinic has two sides - a public façade for the entrance, and a back façade encloses a small garden to provide tranquility to the bedrooms. Similarly the classroom is separated to the noisy football field by the stadium wall and a quite garden, providing a space more conducive to learning.
The constant use of buffering elements enable the Football of Hope Centre to be have all the different activities separated, yet a consistent flow of public spaces integrates the entire Centre as a place for the people.
