PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The pitch is envisioned as a stage for events.
The intention is to create a focal point in the community that actively engages the people and encourage an ongoing participation and dialogue.
The pitch is defined by two “V” shaped seating terraces that form the spatial enclosure, yet maintaining openness to the context at both ends. This openness facilitates a visual engagement with the community, where the seating terrace transforms into a ‘billboard’ when people gather on them, attracting others to participate. ¬
The design of the seating terrace emulates the gentle flow of landscape in the area. Utilizing adobe-brick and earth to create slopes that are terraced with concrete paving to create seats. These “V” shaped terraces are designed to create focal points similar to an outdoor amphitheater, where talks and information dissemination may be conducted. The provision of a shade canopy with timber frame and fabric further reinforces the focal point where people may gather. The fabric unique to the locale would add color and vibrancy to reinforce the ambiance of the space. It is hoped that the community will participate in the production and continual renewal of these fabric.
