Challenge:
The principal aim is to encourage the local communities to participate as much as possible in the building process of their FFH centre. By involving the local community, a high level of ownership, identification and commitment towards, maintaining and extending the facilities later on will be achieved.
Idea:
With a prefabricated frame structure as the core element future users are encouraged to install facilities they need and favour. Local construction characteristics and building materials shall be used preferably.
Realisation:
A) In the first construction phase a basic frame structure has to be built by professional contractors consisting of:
- A framework to support the roof structure
- A concrete foundation for the stadium with stands
- Three supply units collecting and providing water and power (solar power).
After completion of the first phase construction the FFH Centre is basically ready to be used.
Due to the power and water supply included in the concrete foundation a later extension or re-arrangement of the construction can be realized without problems.
B) The second construction phase builds on the use of the supply units as docking stations. Local workers and the prospective users of the FFH Centre in accordance with the needs of the community and the resources of external partners can complete the infrastructure. The result is a centre that is highly accepted by its users and easily integrated in its surrounding area.
