PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
We were given an aircraft cargo container in order to transform it into a transportable, personal living unit. We were not allowed to cut into the container however, as it was still property of the airline. The solution was to create a cage that would fit inside the container through the one mostly open side. This cage would be attached to fabric which would create a hallway when pulled out. The cage itself would also include a telescoping roof to provide standing space. Along with this new living "pod" would follow a whole new transit infrastructure that would promote clean mass transit and less environmentally harmful traffic. These new living spaces along with the system to transport them anywhere would encourage people to “get out” more often which could potentially alleviate the many, everyday plagues of today’s reality. This shelter though could be applied to a number of different scenarios such as reliefe aid or modular public housing.
