PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Two Urban Design 302 studios have collaborated with the DC Chapter of Architecture for Humanity (AFH) and the Ward 7 Development Awareness Committee (DAV) in a three-week long charrette involving pedestrian intersections along Minnesota Avenue.

The "Minnesota Project" is an AFH committee which has become a laison between Ward 7 DAV (citizens of Minnesota Avenue) and development/urban design firms (DDOT, and other organizations) in order to promote stronger community involvement with the development of the urban infrastructure. The charette was aimed to incite design solutions of pedestrian scale to problematic intersections along the Minnesota corridor; a collaboration fusing together citizen-based incentives with formal community development.

It is our hope that this collaboration will continue into the grander urban planning of Anacostia to educate + include citizens in the urban planning process.
