CONTACT: Dustin Feider O2 Treehouse Joseph Barrett Lift Kids 612 636-6656 612 968-0333 info@o2treehouse.com jbarrett@liftkids.org Lift Kids Inc. and O2 Treehouse Announce Eco Tourism Projects MINNEAPOLIS – Lift Kids Inc., a non profit organization created to feed, shelter, and educate children working through local non-governing organizations (NGOs), has partnered with O2 Treehouses, an eco-friendly manufacturer of treehouses to build a sustainable treehouse village in Ethiopia in November, Tanzania in December, and Kenya in January. Lift Kids Inc. and O2 Treehouses have created a business plan that in November of 2008 a team will travel to Ethiopia to build several treehouses in a 600-acre plot of virgin forest-land in order to preserve the ecology and bring sustainability to kids through eco tourism. They will also travel with a team to a four-acre plot just out side of Dar es Salaam Tanzania and a 17-acre plot in Kenya just north of Mombasa. Most development projects are “one-off” monoliths that are too slow to develop, not sustainable and not replicable. Lift Kids focuses on rapid deployment of, small, scalable, and sustainable villages that provide a foundation for education, empowerment and self-reliance. O2 Tree House allows one to experience nature as the birds do. An upper canopy tree haven, built with 100% sustainable materials, does not restrict or harm the tree in any way. The design supports ecological ideas through its form and function. The geodesic sphere offers superior weight and space efficiency and is suspended in the tree via a steel cable support system. The design can accommodate single trunk, multi trunk, or several trees. O2 Treehouse seeks to bring an economic alternative to logging in developing countries by creating eco tourism resorts in tree top canopys. Dustin comments, “The geodesics time to flourish is still upon us and I see it happening in the trees.” Our mission is to bring the O2 Treehouse to as many forests under threat of deforestation as possible. Hello, We are currently in LA working on a build in Beverly Hills. This will be the first of O2 Treehouses custom builds. All of the wood used is from sustainable harvested forests and we are using a stain product called Timber Soy. We also recently completed a project in Beverly Hills. It consisted of a sequoia model (freq. 2) and open deck Birds Eye model (freq. 0) Treehouse; see product pdf. These treehouses are connected via a 55' rope bridge suspended 25' in the air. It is nestled in a lush valley with an imense canopy of California Live Oaks. It was a long project but the reward has been great. It is a treehouse fun world to say the least complete with a 60' zip line that enters the world via a near by hill side. Pictures will be available soon.
