Project Bati Kay consisted in the construction of 50 houses and one community house in a small agriculture community in Port au Prince. The name Bati Kay if after the phrase “build house” in the native haitienne language, Kreyol. In this project, worked one architect, from Chile, two engineers, from Haiti and Chile, and one psicologist from Bolivia. And it lasted six months during the first semester of 2007. The firs important issue was to organize a community and incorporate a new concept in their usual lives, the “Public space”, different from the space without owner. The aim of the community house is to be this new public space for the whole community, increasing the social activities such as languages courses, parties , organizations, etc. Along with the “Kay Kominoté” (community house), the project involved the construccition of 50 houses for the poorest families. For this porpuse, we organized the families so they helped each other in the construction of the houses. Nowadays, project Bati Kay 2008 consists in the design and cosntruction of 35 houses and two Community Houses, in La Ferronaire, close to Gallette, the 2007`s location.
