The goal of April’s archop is to show the public what makes an award winning building or landscape and why awards are important. A design award should be more than a pat on the back and a plaque on the wall. Awards set the bar for quality design and acknowledge achievement. We invite you to exhibit your award winning design. The first archop panel discussion, filled the seats and had others standing eager to hear about architecture, landscape, and planning. In April, we bring together many of Fresno’s legends of design. ‘ArcHop’ - Unbuilt Architecture Exhibition & Discussion Quarterly event leads discussion on improving the built-environment in Fresno and the Central Valley. archop Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 Exhibition opens 5pm Panel Discussion 7pm Free to the public Cultural Arts Building/Broadway Studios 1416 Broadway St. @ Tuolumne Ave. Fresno, CA 93721 Fresno, CA – On Thursday, January 3rd, the public is invited to the next ‘ArcHop’ exhibition. The focus is unbuilt projects in various states of development. Often unrealized due to a lack of support, and visibility, ArcHop will shed light on projects which demonstrate functionality without compromising creativity and innovation. ArcHop will also host a panel discussion on the “Future of Fresno Architecture.” The panel is made up of leading professionals in the fields of architecture (Chris Johnson & Paul Halajian), landscape architecture (Jennifer Feaster), and city planning (Keith Bergthold). ArcHop runs concurrent with Art Hop at Broadway Studios, a popular Art Hop destination. This quarterly program is aimed at bringing design professionals, architects, urban planners, artists and the public together in dialogue on Fresno’s built environment. Our culture, our city, and our architecture stand to benefit from an open discussion on these topics. architecture students engage in cutting edge design to push themselves, the profession and the built environment forward. architecture schools emit a culture of creativity and rigor. in the san joaquin valley that energy isn't captured with the lack of a school of architecture. in july we gather valley students for a regional exhibit. from them we will learn about design outside the valley walls and witness the talent they have. a panel of distinguished educators will discuss architectural education, including all of its competition, diversity, creativity, and sleepless nights.
