Return to the South America Challenge Page No, designs should be from the ground up. LEED Gold certification is not a requirement of designs for the Kallari site. It is the client's preference that the standards of "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" set by the US Green Building Council be considered, but we don't expect everyone to go out and get their designs certified. If you would like to learn more about LEED and the USGBC, visit www.usgbc.org. The Kallari Association's own website is a great place to learn more about your community partner. All boards must be submitted in English first. Translations are not a requirement as the jury will be English speaking. That said, making translations available in Spanish and Kichwa would benefit your community partners at a later stage in the Challenge. Please feel free to "Add a Comment" below and we will reply as soon as possible. You can also email challenge at architectureforhumanity.org Discuss this itemSun, 2008-01-13 16:06
Is the submission deadline Friday February 29th or the 14th? Wed, 2008-01-02 13:54
Do you have updated site info?, I know where it is loctaed but have no idea of the site boundaries, limits or its topography, at this point my project is on standby until I get this information. Fri, 2007-11-30 15:23
We are at a critical point in our process and need to get more information on the site. A site boundary, topographic information (aerial interpolation is fine), rivers, roads, major elevations, etc. The current information shows the site on Google earth located mid ridgeline while the site photos show the site down by the river and road in the valley. While we wait for site information, can you let us know a general location based on google earth information, roads, river. Thanks Wed, 2008-01-16 13:01
Kallari has not yet purchased land thus there is no definite site. The images given under "Competition Details" are of a potential site and of the region in general. Please use the dimensions/occupancies from the design brief and keep in mind we are looking for a design concept that can later be refined based on a site visit and collaboration with the client. Fri, 2007-11-30 15:19
The submission date in the project brief is January 15th and on another part of the website it is Feb 14th. Can you please send out a formal change of submission date if this is the case. Wed, 2008-01-02 14:46
The submission deadline has officially been extended to February 14th due to the lack of site data until recently. -Jessica AFH Wed, 2007-11-28 03:50
In the case of the satellite hub, is the footprint really 3m2, including 3 workstations and an occupancy of 6-8 people? Tue, 2007-11-27 13:27
Longitude and Latitude coordinates are provided in the challenge brief. Is this to be taken as the selected site for the Kallari Assoc. facilities? We can wait for information about the site to be released once the OAN/AH team has returned from their site visit but would like something a bit more definitive to work from in the meantime. I add a comment on the urgency of the information about the site... we need to have information about the countours as well... We need all this as soon as possible... even if it is not ver acurate for now... any information would be useful to start our projects... Thanks Mon, 2007-10-22 14:06
More information about the site will become available in the coming weeks. Architecture for Humanity and AMD will be visiting our community partners and documenting the planned building sites. This information will be shared with all Challenge entries as soon as it is available. Thank you for your patience. Wed, 2007-11-28 14:24
Hi, You really need to provide dates for this information (sites, countours, etc) as we need them to work and we need to organize our time. Please let us know when things will be available. You´ll lose interest otherwise. Tue, 2007-10-30 20:04
do you have a timeline for this site info? that seems like a very important piece of information. also do we pick our own satelite sites or will they be specified? Thu, 2007-10-11 13:11
When can we get more site information, such as Site plan, Site survey plan etc. so we can start our project? Sun, 2007-10-21 09:09
I'll help make this list longer... I'm getting equally frustrated myself, I didn't ask this question earlier because it had already been asked and I was waiting for the reply. It is pretty sad that they wont even answer with a "theres not going to be a site plan" so we are not left waiting. The pictures show some pretty steep hills so i would assume a steep terrain. Maybe someone could draw a topography map off the elevations on Google earth. If a site plan doesn't come up in the next few days it will be my method of drafting the site. Mon, 2007-12-24 04:41
same here! Fri, 2007-10-19 09:39
i was also wondering this, not sure if we are supposed to assume flat land, or if there is any change in elevation this seems like a pretty important question to not have answered Tue, 2007-11-27 13:26
